Moving!

I've decided to switch gears a little bit with this blog. I shall no longer be posting here. Instead you can keep up to date with my work over on my new portfolio website. It is linked to my tumblr where I shall be blogging from now on.

Sorry for the change but I don't have the time for a full on blog at this time. Hope to see you there.

Never Apologise

Never Apologise - Watercolour and digital illustration

Available at Etsy as an 8 x 10 print.

Original Watercolour - Alphabet

I have posted about this piece before, as it has been available as an 8 x 10 print for a few weeks here and here. I have now listed the original over on my etsy shop, grab it while you can!

You Inspire Me

This week I want to showcase the brilliant work of Matte Stephens. He paints incredibly detailed but simple pieces that I just admire immensely.

Sweet Delights

The second piece in my new series of quaint English shops. This one features a bright sweet shop and tea room. The exterior is based on Lanes Patisserie & Cafe in Brighton.

It is now available as a 8 x 10 print in my etsy and folksy shops.

P.S. I want to thank everyone who has purchased a print so far. It gives me such a thrill to know that my artwork is adorning other people's walls. :)

You Inspire Me

In an effort to get more posts on this here blog (because I can be terribly neglectful at times!) I am introducing a new weekly post which will showcase artists and illustrators that inspire me with their wonderful work.

This week, the fabulous work of Migy

This caught my eye on Pinterest this week. Perfectly captures London and I adore the colour scheme.

You can't be British and not love tea, right? Right?

Fantastic message. Brilliant poster.

Wild & Homeless Books

New print available at both shops. It is a part of my new series of painting depicting made up quaint English shops. I have another ready to be added online and I have many more planned for the future.

8 x 10 print at Etsy and Folksy

Walk in Winter

I previewed this a couple of weeks ago here and I'm so excited to show you the final piece. It's now available as an 8 x 10 print over on both the etsy shop and on folksy.

I've been doing some sketching today and have two pieces ready to paint as well as 2 others ready to be added to the shops.

I really appreciate the support of my artwork so far. I didn't expect much when I listed my prints, but I'm pleased I've managed to sell a few. :)

Original watercolour

I am now offering some original watercolour paintings for sale. Rainy Days is the first one I have listed so if you are interested, please head on over at my etsy shop!

I will be adding a few more recent pieces over the coming days, and I also have some new paintings to share with you.

New Painting

I've no idea why I'm painting wintery scenes in summer, but there we go. A sneak peak at my new painting from today.

Summer Garden

Inspired by all the pretty flowers currently blossoming in my garden, which I can't really enjoy because I have hayfever. :( Still, I can enjoy them from afar!

Alphabet

Brand new print available in my etsy shop. I had a lot of fun painting this one.

Rainy Days

Inspired by the dismal weather we've been experiencing here in jolly ol' England this month.

In Progress

The new painting I'm working on tonight.

Sunrise, sunrise

I haven't been sleeping very well lately, so much so that I'm usually still up when the sun rises. Well yesterday morning, for the first time, I actually went out and watched it come up from the beach which was lovely. It was so quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend watching the sunrise at least once!

New Prints

British Biscuits - 8 x 10 print. Originally done in watercolour and ink.

Love Speaks - 8 x 10 print. Inked and then coloured digitally.

Instagram Display

Instagram is a fab app for your iPhone which I'm sure most people know by now, but how many people actually print off their photos?

I made a point earlier in the year to get some of my favourites printed so I could make a display and here's the result! I decided not to go for a standard shape as I want to add more as I take them and get them printed.

If you're looking for a good place to get your photos printed, I got mine done at Photobox. I order all my photos from there and they always look wonderful!

New Print

Not All Who Wander Are Lost - Now available as an 8 x 10 print at my etsy and folksy shops.

I had a bit of excitement the other day as I made my first sale! So thank you!

I also just got some more prints done of newer work and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out. I shall be updating my shops over the coming week with these.

Packaging

Have a little peak at the packaging I've been working on for my shop. I saw the idea for stamping business cards over at Paper Pastries and thought it was a look that would work for me so I went on the hunt for a similar stamp. They sell them at Staples, but I actually got mine from eBay as it was a lot cheaper. The stamp itself is very adaptable and has some cute icons as well as text/numbers. It is a bit fiddly but once everything is in place, it's a great bit of kit!

I had some 12x12 card stock left over from my scrapbooking days so stamped on that on a few different colours as many times as I could, cut them up and then stuck a bit of washi tape on the back of each to jazz them up a bit. I'm really pleased with how they've turned out! They're by no means perfect, but I like them!

As for the rest, I printed out some small versions of my prints, added a free sticker and then grabbed a vintage book and used a paper punch to make some hearts. All finished off by popping everything in a small glassine bag and securing with more washi tape.

Stamp: Colop DIY Printer 50/2

Washi Tape: huihuizakka at etsy (note: I didn't purchase mine from here, but these are the same)

New Watercolour

Spent yesterday working on this piece. I am so, so pleased with how it turned out. I didn't really know where it was going when I started sketching (using this delightful photo I found on Pinterest). I ended up whipping out my watercolours and went from there, adding more detail and shading as I went along.

It's lovely to see something finished, especially when you didn't perhaps intend for it to look the way it does.

In other news, I have opened my etsy shop! Most of my available prints are there, I have one or more to add. I've been quite enjoying setting up shop again (I use to own a craft supply and handmade gifts shop there). I don't have high expectations, so we'll see how it goes.

Getting There!

I've been working steadily over the past few weeks trying to get all my illustrations and artwork in order. I've been wanting to open an etsy shop for quite a while but I want to do it right so I'm getting everything prepared before I start offering anything for sale.

I received my first batch of prints the other day and they've come out great. I did want to do all the printing myself at home, but my printer is not really up for that so until I can afford a fancier one, I'm ordering small batches for the time being just to see how things go.

I'll be sharing more pictures over the coming days of my progress and some previews of some of my work.

The above illustration was sketched in ink and then coloured digitally. Took me an absolute age to decide on the colour scheme for the balloons!

Summer has arrived!

We've had a beautiful couple of days which look to continue into the next week! I'm burnt to a crisp, which must happen at least once a year for prosperity. We had a lovely family walk along the cliffs and managed to take these pretty shots. :)

St Basil

My latest painting is now complete. I'm so pleased with how this turned out. It's of St Basil's Cathedral in Russia. Such a beautifully colourful building, which is an absolute dream for me because I get to break out all the bright colours.

Hello!

You know, sometimes it's really difficult deciding what colour to use on a sketch. It's really hard to get over the hump of worrying that I'll use the wrong colour.

I guess I need to learn to embrace mistakes and remember that not everything has to be perfect. I'm sure I'll get there one day!

Hi, by the way! This blog is still very new and I'm still working on it's design but I just thought I'd post a little something to get things going. I will be sharing my art work as well as lots of other pretty things that inspire and awe so I hope you'll stick with me!
